BM TRADA operates enhanced security Q-Mark schemes for door assemblies, to support Secured by Design (SBD), the police initiative to reduce crime by incorporating crime prevention measures at the design stage.
The Q-Mark scheme for enhanced security was introduced to support the SBD requirement of third party certification to ensure that door assemblies are tested and consistently manufactured. It provides the assurance that the products installed on site meet the same high standards as those tested and therefore offer the same protection. Q-Mark is the ultimate endorsement for any product manufacturer and is readily identifiable as a market leader in the certification of enhanced security door assemblies.
Scheme Requirements
For a manufacturer to be awarded the BM TRADA Q-Mark, the following criteria must be met:
Certification by an independent UKAS accredited body against PAS 23-1: 1999 Fitness for Purpose
Certification by an independent UKAS accredited body against PAS 24-1: 1999 Enhanced Security
Manufacturing of products under strictly controlled conditions to a continually high standard, achieved using a quality system complying with the requirements of BS EN 9001:2000. This demands that all aspects of the manufacturing process, from receipt of raw materials to the distribution of the finished products, are checked and fully documented.
Scheme members are subject to regular factory audits and the long term effectiveness of the quality management system is tested annually by taking door assemblies from standard production and subjecting them to audit testing for enhanced security and general performance.
